गृहपृष्ठ ∕ Nepal ∕ CJ Rana forms Constitutional Bench on basis of seniority Nepal CJ Rana forms Constitutional Bench on basis of seniority KathmanduPati June 04, 2021 KATHMANDU – Chief Justice Cholendra Shumser JB Rana has constituted a Constitutional Bench on the basis of seniority for hearing cases relating to the May 22 dissolution of the House of Representatives. The Bench chaired by CJ Rana consists of senior- most judge Deepak Kumar Karki and justice Meera Khadka, Hari Krishna Karki and Ishwor Prasad Khatiwada. Earlier, CJ Rana agreed to form the Constitutional Bench hearing the petitions related to the HoR dissolution on the basis of seniority and scheduled the hearing for June 7. The constitution sets a provision under which the Chief Justice may appoint any case sub-judice in the Supreme Court involving a serious constitutional interpretation to be tried in the Constitutional Bench. Hearing is taking place in connection with the Nepal Citizenship (First Amendment) Ordinance, 2078 soon after the formation of the Constitutional bench today. President Bidya Devi Bhandari had issued this ordinance on May 23. Six writs have been filed at the Supreme Court against this ordinance.
