Alternative routes to reach disaster-hit area

KATHMANDU – The massive flood occurred on June 16 damaged roads, and suspension and motorable bridges in the western belt of Sindhupalchowk. The collapse of bridges in different locations severed road connection to Helambu, Panchpokhari Thangpal, various villages of Melamchi Municipality and Indrawati Rural Municipality.

With the detachment for long, the local levels have initiated to restore the alternative land routes. Now, the roadway to reach Gyalthum of Helambu from Kathmandu has been ready. It links Sankhu of Kathmandu via Bhotechaur, Haibung and Patibhanjyang, said a people’s representative, Nima Gyaljen Sherpa.

Similarly, efforts are underway to manage an alternative roadway for the buses to operate along the Narayantar, Bhotechaur, Dhuseni, Manebhanjyang, Chapbot, Talamarang and Dhungrebazar.

Transport entrepreneur Suresh Shrestha informed that a bus was being left from Kathmandu for Sindhupalchowk at 6:00, 9:00am and 12:00 noon. The bus service could be increased in view of the condition of the above mentioned road.
