The central committee formed after party’s recently held general convention was going to convene on January 9 to pick 15 officer-bearers as per the party statute. According to the party office chief secretary Shree Ram Dhakal, some leaders and five office employees tested positive for COVID-19 following which the meeting was postponed. Party chairperson Pushpa Kamal Dahal ‘Prachanda’ has also restrained meetings in wake of the party office staffers contracting the flu-like infection, he shared. The 8th general convention concluded on January 2 had elected 237 members while the central committee had elected leader Dahal as the party chair unopposed.
