KATHMANDU – The coalition partners in the incumbent government have forged an agreement to table the Millennium Challenge Corporation (MCC) compact in the federal parliament today.
The alliance meeting held at the residence of Prime Minister in Baluwatar took a decision to this effect, said the government’s spokesperson and Minister for Communications and Information Technology Gyanendra Bahadur Karki.
Earlier, the coalition parties were divided over allowing the presentation of the compact in the parliament. On parliament obstruction continued by the main opposition CPN (UML), the Minister said, “They (UML) themselves brought the compact. Whether or not they continue parliament obstruction, the issue is up to them. Ask them about it.”
Now, the issue will be presented in the sovereign parliament and conclusion will be drawn from there, he assured. The approximately 55 billion USD project is to be used in the construction of transmission lines and roads in Nepal.
