Govt adopts zero tolerance policy against corruption: PM Dahal

KATHMANDU – Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal ‘Prachanda’ has said the government has adopted zero-tolerance policy against corruption. He also pledged to take action against the incidents of irregularity that took place during any period.

Addressing an event organised here today on the occasion of the 32nd anniversary of the Commission for the Investigation of Abuse of Authority (CIAA), the PM said, “The government is committed to taking action against anyone involved in corruption. For this, the CIAA will be equipped with authority.”

The issue of controlling corruption and ensuring virtue has been incorporated in the government’s policy priority and common minimum programmes, he said. “The government at its best will provide help of any sort to the CIAA in its efforts to freely fulfill its responsibility and against corruption.”

PM Dahal also expressed the hope that it would do its work in a free, impartial and free of fear way to book those involved in corruption for the welfare of the people and development of the country, and maintaining good governance.

As the PM of the country being a signatory to the United Nations Convention against Corruption, Dahal also expressed his solidarity with the global anti-corruption efforts.

For the full implementation of the commitments in the Convention, PM Dahal ensured the amendment of the Prevention of Corruption Act and the Commission for the Investigation of Abuse of Authority Act. “We will make efforts to get new acts on the subject endorsed from the Parliament within this year,” Dahal vowed.
