NC parliamentary party condemns use of force by police

GULMI : The Nepali Congress (NC) parliamentary party has condemned what it has called the police administration’s use of force against its leaders and cadres in the course of submitting a memorandum to the District Administration Office in Gulmi.

It said that the police administration used force and also misbehaved with the Nepali Congress district leaders and cadres when they were ‘peacefully’ handing over memos to the district administration. The incident took place on Monday when the NC Gulmi district working committee was submitting the memorandum.

Chief whip of the NC parliamentary party bal Krishna Khand, through a press release today said that stopping the NC leaders and cadres including the district party president who had reached the District Administration Office to enter the office, and thus preventing them from submitting the memorandum in a peaceful manner, shows that the very intention of the local administration was blemished.

According to Khand, the NC leaders and cadres had reached the District Administration Office adopting precautions against the coronavirus. “NC district party president Bhuwan Shrestha and Province Region president Purna KC among other friends have been injured due to the police administration’s suppression. Physical assault on the district leadership itself is a very objectionable and condemnable matter. The Nepali Congress parliamentary party protests this and we wish for the speedy recovery to all the friends who sustained injuries in the incident,” reads the press release.

The NC parliamentary party has demanded an investigation into the incident and into taking legal action against the culprits. It has called for addressing the topics in the memorandum, and also drawn the attention of the Prime Minister and the Home Minister to become serious on this matter.
