JUMLA – Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli has said the Karnali Academy of Health Sciences (KAHS) shall be run more effectively to provide quality education and health services.
Addressing KAHS First Convocation Ceremony here today, PM Oli, who is also the Chancellor of KAHS, expressed happiness as the people of Karnali have started getting quality health services at own place.
“The process of constructing a 100-bed capacity hospital at Rakam Karnali has already been initiated,” he said. The PM expressed the government’s commitment to provide additional services and facilities at KAHS.
Stating that he is known since the conceptualization of KAHS, he expressed pleasure the institute has come to the point of holding its first convocation. He recalled that he had the Medical Education Commission approve the running of medical classes at KAHS when he was the Prime Minister in the past, in spite of challenges.
“This success has been achieved today due to the investment, hope and confidence of guardians, and as a result of your efforts and dedication. I have the conviction that the students graduated from KAHS will set new records achieving success in every field. Utilize your success to provide quality health services to the needy people in remote areas,” PM and KAHS Chancellor Oli exhorted the graduates on the occasion.
He added: “I want to express my happiness that Karnali is moving ahead. This is an opportunity that a dream of providing health care services to the people of the 13 districts of Karnali and Sudurpaschim from here, once considered impossible, has been fulfilled. It is now the responsibility of us all to operate this institution more effectively.”
Kirsten Meisinger, Director of Center for Primary Care and System Strengthening at the Harvard Medical College of USA, was the Chief Guest at the Convocation Ceremony in which 58 students completing Bachelor’s and Master degree in Public Health, Nursing and Medical Science have been graduated, KAHS Administrative Officer Amrit Bahadur Bhandari said.
Minister for Health and Population Pradeep Paudel and Vice Chairman of Medical Education Commission Prof Dr Anjani Kumar Jha, among other officials also attended the Ceremony.
