KATHMANDU : The government has decided to allow holding exams which have been halted for months due to the coronavirus outbreak.
The cabinet meeting held on Monday has decided to give permission to conduct the exams of universities, academies, boards, councils, schools and educational institutions by following health safety protocols.
Unveiling the cabinet decisions on Wednesday, government spokesperson Pradeep Kumar Gyawali said that all exams may be conducted by following health safety standards introduced by the federal, provincial and local governments.
Due to the coronavirus outbreak and measures to contain the spread of Covid-19, the exams of Grade 12 have not been conducted, while the exams of other universities including Tribhuvan University have been delayed.
The government has also decided to begin recruitment for staff of the National Examinations Board. Government Spokesperson and Minister for Foreign Affairs Gyawali said that the cabinet has also decided to allow training and vocational institutes to run their training classes.
