KATHMANDU: Prime Minister and Chairman of the ruling Nepal Communist Party (NCP) has proposed standing committee members to make Bamdev Gautam as the new Prime Minister.
During the standing committee meeting of the party held on Wednesday, Prime Minister Oli proposed NCP Vice Chairman Gautam as the new Prime Minister.
Stating that four other leaders of the first rung have already become the Prime Minister, he said that it was now the turn of Gautam to lead the government. Prime Minister Oli, NCP Executive Chairman Pushpa Kamal Dahal ‘Prachanda’ and senior leaders Madhav Kumar Nepal and Jhalanath Khanal are four leaders of the first rung in the ruling NCP.
“Out of five leaders in the first rung, four have already become Prime Minister. Now, lets make Bamdev Gautam the Prime Minister,” a standing committee member quoted Prime Minister Oli as saying. “Let’s discuss how to make him Prime Minister—either from election or any other ways,” he added.
Prime Minister Oli’s proposal to make Gautam the Prime Minister comes in the wake of growing intra-party rifts in the NCP.
Gautam has been receiving such ‘offers’ from Prime Minister Oli also in the past.
