KATHMANDU – Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli has reached Khumaltar to meet Executive Chairman of Nepal Communist Party (NCP) Pushpa Kamal Dahal ‘Prachanda’ at his own residence.
According to a party source, Prime Minister and Chairman of NCP Oli reached Prachanda’s residence Khumaltar today morning.
The meeting between NCP co-chairs is currently underway.
Earlier on Friday, Oli and Prachanda had held a meeting at Prime Minister Oli’s residence Baluwatar. As Prachanda had told Oli during the meeting that he cannot visit Baluwatar anymore, the Prime Minister decided to visit Prachanda’s residence Khumaltar himself, according to the party source.
The visit of NCP co chairs at Prachanda’s residence Khumaltar comes in the wake of growing tension in the ruling party.
The latest meeting, after the government decision to introduce an ordinance recently which further escalated the crisis in the NCP, is being interpreted as a meaningful one.
Though Prachanda and senior leader Madhav Kumar Nepal-led faction is putting pressure on Oli to give up the post of either Prime Minister or party chairman, Prime Minister Oli has denied quitting any post.
