KATHMANDU – Nepal Communist Party (NCP) Executive Chairman Pushpa Kamal Dahal ‘Prachanda’ has met Minister for Home Affairs Ram Bahadur Thapa ‘Badal’.
Meeting Home Minister Badal at his own official residence in Pulchowk a day after Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli dissolved the parliament, Prachanda asked him for his support in the party that is on the verge of split.
In response to Prachanda’s request for the support, Home Minister Badal, who is also a member of the secretariat, said that he would collaborate with the faction that he shares the political thoughts.
Stating that the recent developments were unfortunate, Home Minister Badal told Prachanda that he would take a decision at an appropriate time, according to his aide Surya Subedi.
Badal, who has become the Home Minister from erstwhile CPN (Maoist-Center), is now considered to be close to Prime Minister Oli. However, Home Minister Badal did not attend a meeting of members of the dissolved parliament called by PM Oli on Monday morning. Instead, he convened a separate meeting of leaders close to him at his residence.
Home Minister Badal reportedly told the meeting that he would make his position on PM Oli’s move clear by today evening.
