Madhav Nepal-led faction of CPN (UML) to expand nationwide organizational base

Comrade Oli bent on splitting party, says Yogesh Bhattarai, criticizing his decision to suspend leaders of Nepal-led faction from the party

KATHMANDU – The Madhav Kumar Nepal-led faction of CPN (UML) is making preparations to expand its base across the country.

The standing committee meeting of the rival Nepal-led faction held on Friday in Kalanki discussed an agenda to expand its organizational structure across the country.

Yogesh Bhattarai, a leader of the Nepal-led faction, said that they will announce the decision of nation-wide organizational expansion on Saturday.

He said that today’s meeting concluded that they have to build and strengthen the organizational structure across the country.

According to leader Bhattarai, the standing committee meeting scheduled for Saturday will make a decision to expand the organization throughout the country and form various structures of the party.

“The standing committee meeting held today also discussed that campaign. We have said that we would form nation-wide structures,” said Bhattarai. “Some proposals in this regard have been presented in today’s meeting. We will give a final shape tomorrow,” he added.

The standing committee meeting of the rival faction led by Nepal also condemned the decision of CPN (UML) Chairman Oli to suspend party deputy general secretary Ghanashyam Bhusal and standing committee member Surendra Pandey from the party for six months, according to Bhattarai.

The action that goes against the party statute endorsed by the 9th General Convention is nothing more than a prejudice against those leaders, he said. “This proves that Comrade Oli is bent on splitting CPN (UML) and we condemn that,” he added.
