POKHARA – Chief Minister of Gandaki Province Krishna Chandra Pokharel Nepali has presented a proposal seeking vote of confidence in today’s Province Assembly meeting.
Urging the Province Assembly members to give the vote of confidence to him, Chief Minister Nepali said that the policy and programme and budget of the Gandaki Province was brought on the basis of constitutional and legal framework even when the Province Government had less than a week to unveil the budget after its formation.
He shared that the government has given a priority to the issue of vaccinating all people of the province against COVID-19 in its policy and programme and budget, adding that required means and resources would be provided to prevent and control corona virus.
The Chief Minister said that the government has assured the citizens to carry out treatment of surgery of breast cancer and cervical cancer for free as well as taking pregnant women with critical situation, new-moms and new-born babies from the remote areas at modern hospitals by rescuing them.
He further said that the government has moved ahead targeting the development of every sector including health and education. Stating that the Province Government has worked as per the people’s aspirations, he urged to give the vote of confidence to his government to safeguard the Province Assembly from being dissolved and to maintain political stability.
Appointed as the Chief Minister on June 12 as per the Article 168 (5) of the Constitution of Nepal, Pokharel is seeking the vote of confidence from the Province Assembly today as per the constitutional provision that states to seek vote of confidence within 30 days.
In the 60-member Gandaki Province Assembly, Nepali Congress has 15 lawmakers, CPN (Maoist Centre) has 11 lawmakers except the Speaker, two of Rastriya Janamorcha Nepal, two of Janata Samajwadi Party Nepal and one independent lawmakers. As the single largest party in the Gandaki Province Assembly, CPN (UML) holds 27 province assembly members.
Out of three members, Rastriya Janamorcha Nepal has already sacked its Province Assembly member Krishna Thapa from the Province Assembly members on charge of breaching the party’s whip.
