KATHMANDU – The CPN (Maoist Centre) is to finalise the names of people to participate in the new government only after discussions with the Nepali Congress. A meeting of the party Standing Committee held with NC President Sher Bahadur Deuba this morning at the party head office Perisdanda decided this.
According to party Spokesperson Narayan Kaji Shrestha, the meeting assigned party Chair Pushpa Kamal Dahal ‘Prachanda’ to hold preliminary discussions about various aspects relating to the operation of the government and a concrete discussion about the form of government to constitute the Council of Ministers.
“The meeting realized that it would be better to discuss first about the nature, size and the parties to be included in the new government before finalizing the names representing the party in the government,” he said.
Maoists have urged all political parties to move ahead unitedly in favor of the constitution and democracy. The Supreme Court on Monday issuing its verdict on a case filed by 146 lawmakers against the May 22 dissolution of the House of Representatives ordered the reinstatement of the HoR and the appointment of Nepali Congress president Deuba as a (new) prime minister in accordance with Article 76 (5) of the Constitution.
The CPN (Maoist Centre) has welcomed the court’s decision, terming it historic and significant. Spokesperson Shrestha said that the SC move has significantly contributed to the safeguard of the Constitution and democracy and to the end of arbitrariness and autocracy. The meeting has thanked all fighting for the protection of the Constitution and democracy.
Similarly, the meeting condoled the demise of party central member Mahadev Yadav and paid tribute to the late mother of party standing committee member Pampha Bhusal.
