Nepali football player in Dhaka contracts COVID-19

KATHMANDU – A Nepali football player, who is in Dhaka to play a friendly match with Bangladesh, has contracted COVID-19.

However, the other Nepali players who are also in Dhaka, have tested negative for the virus, said the All Nepal Football Association (ANFA), adding that the infected player, who had tested positive for the virus on Wednesday, is being kept in isolation at a hospital in Dhaka.

His health condition is considered to be normal. However, he will not be able to play the first friendly match with Bangladesh scheduled for Friday, said ANFA. Nepal will play another match against Bangladesh on November 17. The Nepali players in Dhaka had tested for COVID a week ago.

A Nepali team, including the players, coaches and other staff, had tested negative for the virus before their departure to Dhaka, said ANFA.
