Addressing a gathering organized by Yuwa sangh in the capital on Saturday, he also warned former chief justices to respect judicial independence and not to threaten the court. The remark of Prime Minister Oli comes as a response to the statement issued by four former chief justices on Friday. In their joint statement, former chief justices Min Bahadur Rayamajhi, Anup Raj Sharma, Kalyan Shrestha and Sushila Karki have said that the dissolution of the House was unconstitutional. “I want to tell them [former chief justices] that it does not behoove the people like them who have already reached to the supreme position of the apex court to unduly influence or threaten the Supreme Court,” said Prime Minister Oli. “Why do we need the court if they start issuing a verdict?” he questioned. He also urged the former justices to respect the independent judiciary. Prime Minister Oli also claimed that he has never spoken against the judiciary.
