Kathmandu [Nepal], September 18 – Nepal Rastra Bank has introduced a redesigned 50-rupee banknote with modified security features while retaining the existing size and basic design.
The Currency Management Department of the central bank put the revised note into circulation from Friday, according to the bank.
The new note carries the promissory statement, “Shree Nepal Rastra Bank, Nepal Government Guarantee,” and features an image of mountains and a rhododendron watermark on the front. A numeral “50” watermark is also placed below the floral watermark.
The lower section of the note bears the series number 2082 BS and the signature of Governor Prof Dr Bishwanath Poudel.
The note also contains a 1.2-millimetre-wide security thread inscribed with “NRB” as part of its security features.
On the reverse side the note features an image of a walking leopard with “NEPAL RASTRA BANK” printed above it.
The lower section carries the denomination in English as “RUPEES FIFTY” along with the series number “2025 A.D.”
The central bank said the revised note has been issued with modified features while maintaining the existing denomination and overall format.
