KATHMANDU – Kia Nepal clocked healthy sales of 2000 units in 2021, consolidating its position among the top- three automotive brands in Nepali market. Indian manufactured Kia Seltos and Kia Sonet alone holds the 90% automobile market in recent years making it the top-three automotive brands in Nepal.
Kia has been holding its strong position since 3 decades in Nepali market. The quality, advance and customer segregated features within best price range are probably few of the reasons Kia vehicles have become quite popular in recent years with the launch of Kia Seltos and Kia Sonet. The brand sells different variants of Kia cars from imported to Indian manufactured. However, the price range of Kia varies from NRs. 35,90,000 to NRs. 1,69,90,000. The price varies with models and its features.
Adding to the existing sales, Kia Seltos is one of the major contributor to the brand. It has not been more than a year, Kia Seltos launched in Nepal, but the success of the Kia model has created quite a buzz in Nepali market with the sales of 250 units of Kia Seltos within its debut period. The brand stands on the top when it comes to SUVs in Nepal.
The brand has sold around 1800 units of SUVs in Nepal on the due time of a year. The brand sells seven to nine variants of Kia Seltos from petrol, manual to diesel and auto driving segments. With the advance safety features that comes with the model like air bags, child safety, AVS and many others, the brand focuses more on to the customers’ safety and luxury while driving. It also comes with 360 degree camera, sunroof, LCD screen, and android and apple car play system.
The premium segment Kia cars did hold a strong connection with the customers but with the launch of Kia Seltos and Kia Sonet, the sales and optimum buyers of the Kia vehicles increased to a great extent. The easy availability of parts and the scheme of 5 years of free servicing provided by the brand to their customers, could be probable reasons for being the top brands in mid SUV segment. Another major contributor for the brand has been easy financing of the product to their customer. The brand has tied up with NMB bank for easy financing with a good scheme to the buyers while purchasing a Kia car.
Kia has also been expanding its networks over the country. In 2021, Kia reports to have 14 customer touch-points and dealers over Nepal and also plans to enhance the customer experience at the dealerships.
