In a message of best wishes today on the occasion of the 2566th Buddha Jayanti, the former Prime Minister expressed reverence to the Buddha, the epitome of world peace, benevolence and non-violence. “We have given much priority to the systematic development of Lumbini to establish it as a hub of tourism and also as a centre of faith of Buddhists across the world. As a result, today we are successful in connecting the birthplace of Buddha with direct international flight service,” the erstwhile Prime Minister said, taking a time to claim that the UML-led government undertook meaningful efforts to turn the vision of ‘Lumbini: a city for world peace’ into reality. As he said, a meditation hall capable of accommodating 5,000 people at once was built in Lumbini under the leadership of UML government. He described Lumbini as the birthplace of Buddha and the place of origin of Buddhism.
