The bench of Justice Ramesh Dhakal and Dhrubaraj Nanda ordered rape accused Lamichhane be released from the Central Jail in Sundhara on bail of Rs 2 million. Lamichhane is released after doing times in custody for three months and 9 days. Lamichhane’s advocate Sarojraj Ghimire confirmed the release of Lamichhane. A review petition was filed in the High Court against the Kathmandu District Court’s detention order. The Justices, conducing hearing on the petition, ordered release of Lamichhane on bail. Registrar of Patan High Court Thagindra Kattel shared that Lamichhane is required to obtain permission from the District Police Office, Kathmandu prior to leaving out of the Kathmandu Valley and he cannot contact nor could he threaten the victim and the victim’s families through any medium. Lamichhane was arrested from the Tribhuvan International Airport on October 6, 2022 after a complaint was filed against him on the charge of raping a minor girl.
