Shakya filed her nomination at the office of the Election Officer established at the Federal Parliament Building, New Baneshwor, today. UML Chairperson KP Sharma Oli, leaders-Subas Chandra Nembang, Chhabilal Bishwokarma, Raghubir Mahaseth and Gokarna Bista proposed Shakya for the post while Mahesh Bartaula, Tulasa Dahal, Krishna Gopal Shrestha, Bhagawati Neupane and Yashoda Rijal seconded the proposal. The election to the post of Vice-President is taking place on March 17.
