The President has today appointed the senior most justice of the Supreme Court Prakashman Singh Raut as the Chief Justice of Nepal on the recommendation of the Constitutional Council and in accordance with Article 129 of the Constitution of Nepal. The Parliamentary Hearing Committee unanimously approved the name of the proposed Chief Justice Raut on October 2. The meeting held on September 16 of the Constitutional Council had decided to recommend him as the Chief Justice. After the tenure of Chief Justice Bishowambhar Prasad Shrestha ended on October 5, the President appointed Raut as the Chief Justice on Sunday.
