Among those rescued are three women and eight men, said Chief of the Koshi Province Police, Deputy Inspector General of Police (DIGP) Rajan Adhikari. He said nearly 300 personnel of the Nepal Police, the Armed Police Force and the Nepali Army have been mobilized for rescue and bringing the fire under control. Similarly, 12 fire engines belonging to various local governments have been pressed into service for putting out the fire. Fire broke out at the 10-storey building this morning. The Ministry of Home Affairs had dispatched a helicopter of the Nepali Army to the inferno site for helping with the rescue efforts and dousing the fire immediately after getting information was people were trapped in various floors of the building. The people trapped in the building have been rescued with the help of the chopper. DIGP Adhikari said efforts are ongoing for bringing the fire under control.
