KATHMANDU : Discussions are being held between the government and representatives of Dr Govinda KC on his demands. The discussions are taking place at the Ministry of Education, Science and Technology, shared Chairperson of Nepal Medical Association, Dr Lochan Karki, who is participating on the behalf of Dr KC.
The government had formed a three-member team under the coordination of Education Secretary Gopinath Mainali on Wednesday to hold discussions with Dr KC. Joint-Secretary Jibraj Lohani and Director at the Medical Education Commission, Dr Dilip Sharma, are the members of the government’s team.
A team under coordination of Dr Jeevan Chhetri consisting of Dr Anjani Kumar Jha, lawyer Om Prakash Aryal and Dr Karki was formed from Dr KC’s side soon after the government formed its team.
Dr KC has been staging a hunger strike since September 14 demanding reform in the medical education sector. This is his 19th hunger strike.
The government had brought Dr KC to Kathmandu from Jumla after one week of his hunger strike. Demonstrations are taking place in different parts of the country demanding to save Dr KC’s life.
