Kathmandu [Nepal], August 24 – Nepal’s Meteorological Forecasting Division has forecast heavy rainfall at isolated locations in several provinces on Monday and Tuesday as the monsoon continues to influence the country.
According to the division, monsoon winds are currently affecting the entire country. Light to moderate rainfall is being recorded at a few places in Bagmati, Gandaki, Lumbini and Karnali provinces.
On Monday night heavy rainfall is likely at one or two locations in the hilly and Terai areas of Koshi Province as well as in the hilly areas of Bagmati and Gandaki provinces.
The division has also warned of strong winds in some parts of the Terai areas of Madhesh and Koshi provinces.
On Tuesday heavy rainfall is expected at one or two locations in the hilly areas of Koshi, Bagmati, Gandaki and Lumbini provinces. Strong winds are also possible in some parts of the Terai areas of Madhesh and Koshi.
The weather division has forecast a similar risk on Wednesday with heavy rainfall possible at one or two locations in the Himalayan and hilly areas of Koshi Province and the hilly and Terai areas of Bagmati, Gandaki and Lumbini provinces.
Authorities have urged residents and travellers in areas vulnerable to heavy rainfall to remain alert particularly as intense rain can increase the risk of localized flooding and other weather-related disruptions.
