Kathmandu [Nepal], August 26 – The Nepali Army has rescued 25 people affected by a major flood in the Bhotekoshi River in Rasuwa, authorities said.
Army teams deployed in the affected areas rescued people from Timure and Syafru in Rasuwa and the Trishuli area of Nuwakot according to army spokesperson Rajaram Basnet.
The army has mobilized six helicopters while eight helicopters from private operators have also been deployed bringing the total to 14 aircraft for rescue and emergency response operations.
The helicopters will be used to evacuate injured and affected people and deliver relief supplies where necessary, Basnet said.
Meanwhile, the army has deployed a team of 20 specialist doctors including two surgeons at Maithali Barracks in Trishuli to provide medical treatment to those injured in the disaster.
The medical team was sent to the barracks after road access to Trishuli Hospital was disrupted by the flood.
Rescue and relief operations are continuing in affected areas as authorities work to reach people stranded by the disaster.
