Bhotekoshi flash flood death toll reaches 469


Kathmandu [Nepal], August 28 – The death toll from the devastating flash floods that struck Rasuwa district on Wednesday morning has reached 469, according to the latest update from Nepal Police.

The police said the figures were recorded as of 7:00 am on Thursday. Of the total fatalities 12 bodies were recovered in Rasuwa and 37 in neighbouring Nuwakot district.

Dhading recorded 33 recovered bodies while 44 bodies were found in Gorkha according to the police. Chitwan reported the highest number of recoveries with 178 bodies retrieved so far.

Similarly, 28 bodies were recovered in Tanahun while Nawalparasi Bardaghat Purba recorded 110 deaths. Police also reported 27 bodies recovered in Nawalparasi Bardaghat Paschim.

The scale of the disaster has triggered extensive search and recovery operations across several districts as authorities continue to assess the impact of the floods.

Nepal Police said 28 of its personnel remain missing following the disaster.

The latest figures reflect bodies recovered across multiple districts and may be updated as search teams continue operations in flood-affected areas.
