Kathmandu [Nepal], August 29 – The Nepal Tourism Board (NTB) said 187 foreign nationals stranded following the devastating Bhotekoshi flash flood have been rescued so far.
According to the NTB, a total of 743 foreign nationals were reported missing after the flash flood struck Rasuwa district on August 26.
Among those rescued are 114 Indian nationals, 27 Chinese, 20 South Korean, four German, three Italian, four Maltese and three American citizens.
The rescued foreigners also include one citizen each from Belgium, Bulgaria, Oman and Portugal, as well as two each from Russia, Spain, Switzerland and Turkey.
The latest figures cover nationals from 15 countries, according to the tourism board.
Search and rescue operations are continuing in flood-affected areas as authorities work to locate those still missing. The disaster has severely affected settlements, roads and infrastructure around the Bhotekoshi river with hundreds of people including foreign nationals still unaccounted for.
