Bollywood’s Ramayana earns $12 million despite second-day decline

Bollywood’s Ramayana earns million despite second-day decline

Kathmandu [Nepal], November 7 – Nitesh Tiwari-directed bollywood film Ramayana has collected Rs1.129 billion in net earnings at the Indian box office within its first two days despite a decline in collections on the second day, according to trade website Sacnilk.

The film earned Rs 648.5 million on its opening day before its collections fell to Rs 480.5 million on Friday the second day of its release.

Although its opening-day performance fell short of expectations Ramayana recorded the fourth-biggest opening in Bollywood history and crossed the Rs 1 billion mark within two days. Its box-office performance is expected to improve over the Diwali weekend.

The film’s earnings have largely been driven by its Hindi version while its Kannada release has recorded weaker collections. The Telugu version has performed relatively well whereas the Tamil and Malayalam versions have seen slower business.

Despite its strong opening Ramayana remains behind Adipurush which earned Rs 1.51 billion net in India during its first two days compared with Ramayana’s Rs1.129 billion. However, the two films’ opening periods fell on different weekdays making a direct comparison difficult.

Starring Ranbir Kapoor, Sai Pallavi and Yash the film was released worldwide on November 5. Its second instalment is scheduled for Diwali 2028.
