The meeting will discuss formation of a new government under the leadership of the CPN (UML) by voting out Chief Minister Mahendra Bahadur Shahi, according to Gulabjung Shah, Chief Whip of Karnali’s CPN (UML). Chief Minister Shahi-led government in Karnali has already fallen into minority in the provincial assembly after CPN (UML) decided to withdraw its support to him. However, some ministers from the CPN(UML) have not stepped down from their posts. These ministers who are close to Madhav Nepal-led faction in the CPN (UML) have not quit the government. In the 39-member provincial assembly of Karnali, 20 lawmakers are from CPN (UML). Out of 20 UML lawmakers, nine members are from the rival Nepal-led faction of the CPN (UML). The ruling CPN (Maoist Center) has 12 lawmakers while six lawmakers are from the main opposition Nepali Congress. Rastriya Prajatantra Party has one lawmaker in Karnali’s assembly.
