Laxmi Cares provides Electric Vehicles for pilgrims of Lumbini Heritage Site


KATHMANDU – Laxmi Cares, a NGO established and managed by the employees of Laxmi Bank, has handed over two electric vehicles (EVs) to Lumbini Development Trust.

The EVs will be used to provide free conveyance service to senior, differently abled and needy pilgrims and visitors inside the premises of Lumbini heritage site. The EVs are expected to cater the mobility needs of huge number of pilgrims expected to visit the Lumbini province during the upcoming Buddha Jayanti.

The EVs were handed over in a program to Venerable MetteyaSakyaputta, Vice Chairman of Lumbini Development Trust jointly by Mr. Anup Shrestha, Chairperson and Mrs. Shishu Joshi, Past President and Advisor of Laxmi Cares. The event was attended by the Executive Board members of Lumbini Development Trust and representatives from Laxmi Cares.

The EVs were supported out of the proceeds of Orange Vibes 2023, a musical fund-raiser event conducted by Laxmi Cares on 1st April 2023. Laxmi Cares has been organizing various fund raising events to collect funds for social activities under its umbrella.

Laxmi Cares has been engaged in various social activities, primarily on renewable energy promotion, environment conservation, financial literacy and girl child education. In previous years, Laxmi Cares has installed solar lights at Bagmati Bridge, Patan Durbar Square and Bhadrakali-Singha Durbar, Gadhimai Temple of Bara, Chandeshwori Temple of Banepa, among other places along with tree plantation at several parts of the country as well as scholarship to various deserving girl children across the country.
