KATHMANDU: The Chief District Officer of Kathmandu, Janak Raj Dahal, has said that the army should be mobilized at all entry points of the Kathmandu Valley.
In a meeting of the sub-committee under the Education and Health Committee on Sunday, CDO Dahal stated that the number of illegal arrivals can be controlled if the Nepal Police is deployed to the targeted areas, and that the problem cannot be solved by tightening the entry points into the valley.
“It simply came to our notice then. There is a need to mobilize the army at the checkpoints to make the valley entrance systematic,” Dahal said. “Isolation, quarantine, and testing should also be added.”
Additionally, he has urged for the creation of a facility to manage the bodies of those deceased due to COVID-19, recommending that constructing such a place in a remote area is crucial due to the rising death toll.
“When there are many people who will die tomorrow, we have to be prepared in a remote place to manage it,” stated Dahal. “I hope such a situation does not arise, but we should be prepared.”
