The cabinet meeting held on Monday evening has decided to allow public transportation and domestic flights to operate from September 21. With this decision, long-route bus services and domestic flights will resume from next Monday after a closure of nearly six months. While the government in July had decided to lift the four-month long nationwide lockdown that was imposed in August, some restrictions including those on long-haul transportation and domestic air services were still in place as part of containment measures to curb the spread of coronavirus. However, the government has decided to lift such restrictions before the onset of the festivals of Dashain and Tihar, a time when thousands of people will want to return to their homes.
