Borders to remain closed until mid October

Govt to allow arrivals of international tourists for mountaineering, trekking from October 17


KATHMANDU:  The government has decided to continue its decision to close the international borders until mid October. The cabinet meeting held on Monday decided to close all border points until October 16.

Minister for Foreign Affairs Pradeep Kumar Gyawali, who is also the government spokesperson, said that the movement of the people will be allowed only through 10 designated border points while all other international borders of the country will remain close.

The earlier decision to close the border was going to expire from August 16. Government spokesperson Gyawali also said that the cabinet also decided to allow the arrival of international tourists who come to Nepal for mountaineering and trekking.

However, the cabinet meeting decided to continue its restrictions on schools and colleges, exams, training, sports, recreational activities, among others, until further notice.
