NEPALGUNJ – Seven people have died in a road accident that took place in Shamshergunj of Raptisonari rural municipality-8, Banke.
Likewise, 29 others were injured in the accident that took place when a passenger bus hit a stationed truck on the East-West highway. Of them, the condition of two is reported to be critical.
The deceased have been identified as Kashiram Tharu,50, Kasturi Thapa,55, Rupa Pariyar,50, Jayanti Tharu of around 40 years old of Thakurbaba Municipality-9 of Bardiya, Chanuram Tharu,65, of Ward No. 7, Jug Bahadur Chand,45, of Ward No. 8 of the same municipality. Likewise, a man of around 35 years of age, said to be a staff of the bus was also killed in the accident, according to Deputy Superintendent of Police at the District Police Office, Banke Narayan Dangi.
The injured are undergoing treatment at Nepalgunj Medical College Teaching Hospital, Kohalpur. The accident took place when the bus (Na. 7 Kha. 2321) coming from east to west collided with the truck (Na. 8 Kha. 6405) stationed on the road after suffering a malfunction.
The bus was carrying 41 people returning from a visit to Dharapani in Dang. The bus is said to be owned and operated by the Bethani Community Forest Users Committee, Thakurbaba, Bardiya.
