A total of 2,459 units of blood have been collected in a period of one and a half months. Fifty-two clubs in these areas accelerated the blood donation programme after the Blood Transfusion Centre started facing blood shortage due to the lockdown that was imposed in order to prevent COVID-19 infection. Department Chief of Lions Club of 325 (Vivan), Bal Krishna Sharma, said that blood is being collected with technical support from blood transfusion centres in every district except Manang and Mustang of the Gandaki State. Similarly, 26 units of blood have been collected in a blood donation programme organized by Lions Club of Shanti Stupa Chautari at Birautachowk of Pokhara today. The Regional Blood Transfusion Centre is charging Rs 500 per unit blood for patients undergoing treatment at community hospitals while Rs 1,000 for the patients receiving treatment at private hospitals.
