Single day highest spike with 2,722 new cases of COVID-19


KATHMANDU : A total of 2,722 new cases of COVID-19 were recorded across the country after conducting PCR tests on 14,739 individuals in the past 24 hours.

The number is the highest recorded in a single day so far in the country. A total of 1,638 individuals in Kathmandu Valley alone have tested positive for the virus. Of them, 1,280 are in Kathmandu, 162 in Lalitpur and 196 in Bhaktapur.

At a regular press briefing at the Ministry of Health and Population, Spokesperson Dr Jageshwar Gautam shared that there are currently a total of 21, 234 active coronavirus cases in the country. With this, the number of cases has reached 82, 450 in the country as of Friday.

Dr Gautam shared that 3,307 have returned home after complete health recovery from across the country in the past 24 hours. With this, the number of total recovery has crossed 60,000. He further shared that 11,760 are in home isolation while 9,474 in institutional isolation centres.

There are currently 4,885 people in quarantine.  The latest update recorded 11 deaths, taking the death toll to 52 in the country.
