KATHMANDU : Minister for Health and Population, Bhanubhakta Dhakal held a virtual discussion with COVID-19 hospital directors today.
On the occasion, he acquired information on the problems faced by doctors, nurses and health workers, among other human resources working at the front lines in the prevention and control of COVID-19. The Minister also learnt about their expectations from the Health Ministry.
The Health Minister said that everyone should be encouraged to take extreme precautions, should there be no concrete treatment in sight, stressing that the coronavirus pandemic can be stemmed and controlled if everyone cooperates.
Pointing out the possibility of further increased risks of COVID-19 due to crowding in the upcoming festival season, he directed the hospital directors to do everything possible from their side in providing medical treatment to those infected.
Minister Dhakal pledged that the government would not let there be a shortage of health equipment and goods, including PPEs, and instructed the hospitals to continue operating as they have been so that no patient is turned away.
Twenty-five hospital directors participated in the virtual discussion. Among other things, they talked about the problems faced due to COVID-19, the work they have been carrying out at present and the Ministry’s immediate responsibilities.
The Health Minister had regularly been consulting with health experts, the Province Social Development Ministers and other stakeholders before this.
