As part of the campaign to rid the metropolis of street beggars, Mayor Bhim Parajuli rescued the 12 who had been living around Purano Gudri in Metropolis-9. The rescued have been kept at the Manav Sewa Ashram located in Biratnagar-10. Prior to this, the Biratnagar Metropolitan City had rescued 20 homeless people. The Metropolis has identified all 12, among whom are drug users who have been sent to rehabilitation homes. Mayor Parajuli said that the campaign will be made more systematic and continued.
