Kathmandu- The Nepal Army has said that it has expedited the construction of Kathmandu-Madhesh/Terai Fast Track Project (Expressway). Issuing a statement on Tuesday, ths Nepal Army also claimed that the project will be completed within the deadline.
The 72.5-kilometer-long expressway will link Kathmandu to Nijgadh of Bara.
Stating that a long delay in getting and approval of the detailed project report (DPR) as well as selection of international consultant and Covid-19 hit the progress of the national pride project, the Nepal Army said that it has sped up the construction of the fast track with a target to complete it within the deadline.
It also said that it has now completed the shortlisting of an international consultant for the project.
Earlier in May 2017, the cabinet meeting had decided to provide the responsibility of building the fast track to the Nepal Army. However, the DPR of the project was approved only after two years. According to the DPR, the project is expected to cost Rs 175 billion with a target to complete it by March, 2024.
According to the Nepal Army, it has achieved 16.29 percent of physical and 9.52 percent of financial progress in the project. A total of Rs 16.66 billion has been spent in the project so far.
