Nepal Police transfers 30 SPs including a dozen district police chiefs 

Reshuffle of responsibilities of senior police officers comes in the wake of growing protests across country and political uncertainty 


KATHMANDU: The Nepal Police has transferred two and a half dozen SPs ( Superintendent of Police).

According to the Nepal Police Headquarters, it has reshuffled the responsibilities of police chiefs of nearly a dozen districts and one and a half dozens senior police officers in various departments.

The IGP (Inspector of Nepal Police)-level decision on Tuesday to  transfer 30 SPs en masse will come into effect from Magh 1 (January 14).

District Police Offices of Kanchanpur, Bara, Dhanusha, Kavre, Dhading, Baglung, Jhapa, Rautahat, Doti and Makwanpur have got new SSPs as their chiefs.

SP Ganga Pant has been transferred to the Central Investigation Bureau in Maharajgunj from Parsa.

Bel Bahadur Pandey will now replace Pant in District Police Office Parsa. SP Somendra Singh Rathaur has now been sent to District Police Office Makwanpur from Metropolitan Police Range Kathmandu.

SSP Abhusan Timsina has been transferred to the District Police Office Sindhuli from Central Investigation Bureau.

The decision to transfer district chiefs of over a dozen districts comes in the wake of growing political uncertainty after Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli-led government dissolved the House of Representatives and set new dates for midterm election.

The move of the Prime Minister has not only left the ruling Nepal Communist Party (NCP) on the verge of a split but also triggered nationwide protests.
