Shanta Chaudhary proposed her candidacy while Krishnabhakta Pokhrel seconded it. Prior to this, Nepali Congress (NC) whip Pushpa Bhusal Gautam registered her candidacy on behalf of the ruling parties and it was proposed by CPN (Maoist Center)’s chief whip Dev Prasad Gurung and seconded by CPN (Unified Socialist)’s Laxmi Kumari Chaudhary. It may be noted that the Federal Parliament Secretariat on Wednesday published an election schedule of the deputy-speaker. As per the schedule, there was a programme for registration of a proposal for election of any member of the HoR to the post of Deputy Speaker between 11 am and 1 pm on July 14, Thursday. The notice of such proposal should be registered with the HoR Secretary.
