The party’s central committee meeting held on Friday night elected party vice President Dol Prasad Aryal as the acting President until further arrangements are made according to the party’s statute, said Party General Secretary and Spokesperson Dr Mukul Dhakal. Aryal was entrusted with the responsibility of leading the party after the decision of the Supreme Court on Friday regarding the citizenship of the party’s founding President Rabi Lamichhane. Similarly, the party’s parliamentary party meeting held yesterday decided to elect Aryal as the leader of the party’s parliamentary party as well. The post had fallen vacant following the Supreme Court’s decision that declared Lamichhane ineligible for being elected as member of parliament. Meanwhile, the party has requested all its members and well-wishers to exercise restraint and respect the rule of the law at this challenging time for the party.
