KATHMANDU – CPN (UML) general secretary Shankar Pokhrel and Communist Party of China (CPC) foreign department chief, Liu Jianchao, held a meeting today in Beijing.
During the meeting, the UML leader who is currently on a visit to China said that Nepal is committed to the one-China policy and it will not allow any anti-China activities to occur within the Nepali territory.
According to UML publicity department chief Rajendra Gautam, during the meeting the leader added that Nepal wished to promote its international relations and cooperation being based on the non-aligned policy and the principles of Panchasheel, a set of five principles of peaceful coexistence.
The Chinese leader acknowledged strong and cordial ties between the CPC and the UML, adding that the CPC wished to see such relations further grow.
On the occasion, the two recalled agreements reached between the government led by UML chair KP Sharma Oli and Chinese President XI Jinping during the latter’s visit to Nepal in October, 2019 and exchanged commitments to the implementation of such understandings.
The Chinese leader said China is always in favour of peace, development and prosperity in Nepal.
