KATHMANDU – Co-chair of Nepal Communist Party (NCP) and Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli has alleged Party’s Executive Chairman Pushpa Kamal Dahal of making efforts to topple the government.
Writing a 10-page letter to Prachanda, Prime Minister Oli questioned him the motive behind his efforts to change the guard.
The letter was a response to Prachanda’s letter to Prime Minister Oli. In his letter, Prime Minister Oli also accused five secretariat members of promoting factionalism in the party.
Earlier last week, majority members of secretariat had held a meeting and decided to put pressure on Oli to convene the secretariat meeting.
NCP Executive Chairman Prachanda, Senior Leaders Madhav Kumar Nepal and Jhalanath Khanal, Vice Chairman Bamdev Gautam and Spokesperson Narayan Kaji Shrestha were present in the meeting.
“Why plot a campaign to change the leadership everytime while there is an easy option of selection and handover of the leadership through general convention after four months? Don’t comrades have trust on the wisdom of delegates coming to the general convention?” Oli asked in the letter.
“Why this marathon for the government leadership? Has comrades’ trust toward the party’s future after two years eroded?”
He also took a strong exception over the attempts to corner him. Claiming that he was running the government in consultation with Prachanda, he said that he will take all credits and responsibilities of the government’s actions.
“I have been running the government in consultation with Executive Chairman Prachanda and the party’s policies and instructions,” he added.
