KATHMANDU- At a time when President Bidya Devi Bhandari has been facing criticisms for her roles to settle the disputes in the ruling Nepal Communist Party (NCP), she has become active again to mediate the intra-party conflict of the governing party.
After meeting NCP chairman and Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli and NCP executive chairman separately on Thursday, she again summoned them to Shital Niwas for a joint meeting on Thursday.
She has long been facing criticisms for her active role in the active politics of the ruling party from not only the opposition Nepali Congress but also from within the ruling NCP.
Many NCP leaders blame President Bhandari for siding with Prime Minister Oli in the intra-party dispute. However, she continues to play an active role in mediating the intra-party conflict of the NCP.
During the meeting with Oli and Prachanda on Thursday, she had urged them to find a consensus and end the intra-party disputes, according to a source at Shital Niwas.
She had also urged them to find consensus and protect the party from the split. She is likely to put pressure on both leaders to resolve the intra-party disputes based on consensus between the two leaders.
