KATHMANDU – Ishwor Pokharel, a secretariat member of the ruling Nepal Communist Party (NCP) who is also Deputy Prime Minister, has offered party vice chairman Bamdev Gautam to become the Prime Minister during the upcoming election.
According to a high level source, Deputy Prime Minister Pokharel made a telephone call today morning to propose him to participate in the current government with the portfolio of his choice and become the Prime Minister during the upcoming election.
Deputy Prime Minister Pokharel is a confidante of NCP chairman and Prime Minister Oli. However, NCP vice chairman Pokharel reportedly rejected the offer. Gautam also told Pokharel that inter party disputes should be settled through the standing committee meeting, according to the source.
Many party insiders believe that the offer came from Oli through Pokharel amid widening rift in the ruling NCP.
Prime Minister Oli has been trying to woo Gautam to his camp as he is in minority in the secretariat as well as standing committee of the party
