KATHMANDU – Nepal Communist Party (NCP) led by Pushpa Kamal Dahal ‘Prachanda’ and Madhav Kumar Nepal has launched fourth-phase protest programs against the government.
Organizing a press meet at party headquarters Parisdanda today, NCP led by Prachanda-Nepal faction unveiled additional protest programs against the government decision to dissolve the House of Representatives.
Claiming that previous protests were successful, NCP leader Yogesh Bhattarai warned to intensify the fourth-phase struggle programs. The agitating NCP plans to carry out protests in all districts from February 7 to February 24 under its fourth-phase programs.
He said that the protesters will form a human chain around Tundikhel on February 18, demonstrations in all wards on February 19, signature collection between February 19 and February 27 and demonstration of women against rape cases on February 21.
According to the NCP, it will also organize a youth rally in Kathmandu on February 26 and interaction on regressive decision on February 20, among other programs.
The NCP led by Prachanda and Nepal faction has been staging protests against the government’s decision to dissolve the House. Earlier on December 20 last year, Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli had decided to dissolve the House and set dates for midterm elections.
The government decision has not only been challenged in the Supreme Court but also left the ruling NCP on the verge of a split. The rival faction of the NCP has taken to the street against the government’s move.
