KATHMANDU – The faction led by Pushpa Kamal Dahal ‘Prachand’ and Madhav Kumar Nepal has decided to return to their respective old parties.
The standing committee meeting of the Prachanda-Nepal faction held on Monday decided to move apart to return to their old parties revived by the Sunday’s verdict of the Supreme Court.
With this decision, leaders and cadres will return to either CPN(UML) or CPN (Maoist-Center). Leader Jhalanath Khanal said that they have decided to return to their own parties after the verdict.
Stating that the verdict has already split the ruling NCP into two parties, he said that they will work towards the reunification.
NCP Spokesperson Narayan Kaji Shrestha said that the standing meeting of the party was the last meeting. He also said that they will make efforts to reunite CPN(UML) and CPN (Maoist-Center).
Earlier on Sunday, the Supreme Court had overturned the decision of the Election Commission to provide the name NCP following the merger between CPN(UML) and CPN (Maoist-Center).
The verdict not only provided the Rishi Kattel-led party the name NCP but also scrapped the merger between CPN(UML) and CPN (Maoist-Center).
