Senior Leaders Nepal and Khanal would be provided a chance for self-criticism, says UML General Secretary Pokharel

KATHMANDU – Deputy Prime Minister Ishwor Pokharel has said that CPN (UML) would provide leaders trying to topple the government a chance of introspection.

Speaking a press meet organized on Thursday in Birgunj, Deputy Prime Minister Pokharel, who is also the CPN (UML)’s General Secretary, said that senior leaders Madhav Kumar Nepal and Jhalanath Khanal would be provided a chance to self-criticism for their roles on trying to topple the majority government by siding with the CPN (Maoist Center).

He said that the party is holding discussions about the leaders who have returned to the party following the Supreme Court’s recent verdict to scrap the merger process of CPN (UML) and CPN (Maoist-Center).

“Those friends who have joined the CPN (UML) by quitting CPN (Maoist-Center) would be provided appropriate posts and responsibilities with due respect. Those who had left the CPN (UML) and got closer with the CPN (Maoist Center) have also returned to the party,” said CPN (UML)’s General Secretary Pokharel.

“There will be a discussion about them in the central committee and they will be provided the position and responsibilities based on the decision of the central committee,” he added.

Similarly, Deputy Prime Minister Pokharel also expressed commitment to reopen the border to address the problems of people living nearby border areas if the local level crisis management center sends recommendation to the High-Level Coordination Committee for the Prevention and Control of COVID-19.
